Do I need a doctor's referral to see a Chiropodist?

No, you do not need a doctor's referral to visit a Chiropodist. Chiropodists are primary healthcare providers in Ontario who focus on foot health, and you can book directly with us at any time. However, if you plan to claim your custom orthotics through an extended health plan, some insurers may require a referral note from a family physician or nurse practitioner before they reimburse you, so we recommend checking your specific policy before your visit.

How much do custom orthotics cost?

Custom orthotics involve a biomechanical assessment, a 3D foot scan, manufacturing of the orthotics, and a final fitting and dispensing appointment. There is no HST charged on custom orthotics or on clinical appointments with a Chiropodist. Custom orthotics are not covered by OHIP; coverage under extended health plans varies, so we encourage you to verify with your provider before booking.

What is the difference between custom orthotics and over-the-counter insoles?

Over-the-counter insoles: mass-produced, generic inserts based on average shoe sizes. They provide basic cushioning but are not made to address individual structural issues.
Custom orthotics from a Chiropodist: a Chiropodist assesses your foot structure, joints, and walking pattern, and your orthotics are custom-made to your feet. They help redistribute foot pressure and address biomechanical abnormalities. Many insurers cover custom orthotics prescribed and dispensed by a registered Chiropodist.

How long do they take to make?

Once we complete your 3D scan and biomechanical analysis, manufacturing typically takes 3 to 4 weeks. The data is sent to an accredited orthotic laboratory, and once your orthotics arrive back at our clinic we will contact you to schedule your fitting and dispensing appointment.

What is the process for becoming a new patient at Little Lake Foot Clinic?

To become a new patient, you can call our office at 705 435 6050 or use our online booking system to schedule an initial appointment. During your visit, we will gather your medical history and discuss your needs.

What is the cancellation policy at Little Lake Foot Clinic?

We ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Cancellation fees may apply for appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice. This allows us to offer the slot to another patient in need of care.
